I wanted to share a story with everyone today. Something that
happened to me a few months ago.
A few weeks ago a man walked into a weekly gig I do in Romeo. He was with his family; he was very rude and made a point of letting me know he hated magicians because of one that he saw in Detroit not too long ago.
I kept up my magic for his family and made a point to shake his hand on my way to the next table. I said "I am sorry what happened to you. I hope to see you back here. Don't think of me as a Magician just call me Anthony and if you ever need someone to talk to or share something with I'm here on most Thursday's."
Well he came back. He brought his wife. He called me over and handed me a $100 Bill. He said please come back I want to talk with you.
I sat down with Mike and he shared with me a story about his son who was in jail and his daughter in law whom lost everything after going through something I don't even want to type.
We talked for an hour and he gave me his number. I call him once a month to stay in touch.
Moral of the story is... just because someone is not kind to you, you don't have a right to be unkind back. If you step out of your comfort zone and offer kindness to someone more than likely you will reach a mutual level of trust. This is how friendships are formed. This is how life should be lived.
As a Keynote Speaker about Suicide Prevention and Mental Health I toured all L'Anse Creuse Public Middle Schools with my school assembly show 'The Magic Of Hope'.
The staff were amazing and the reviews told me my message was effective. I hope the students are now able to identify and act on a Mental Health warning sign before it becomes a crisis. Speak up for yourselves and for others!
On August 30, 2018, Oakland County Magician, Anthony Grupido, will attempt to escape a straightjacket while suspended upside down in the air at Jimmy John's Field in Utica. Anthony Grupido is the Resident magician at Jimmy Johns Field in Utica.
Oakland County Magician, Anthony Grupido, is named into the 2017 class of L. Brooks Patterson's Elite 40 Under 40. This is a high honor in Oakland County for those who are improving the quality of life for their communities. Anthony Grupido is the youngest member of all the classes!
As a Suicide Prevention Speaker for Suicide Prevention and Mental Health I remember giving my first talk at Waterford School districts. I gave this talk at all their high schools and middle schools and they were the first school district to have me. I am greatful for the opportunity and never knew that a few years later I would be traveling the United States spreading this message to all communities.
